Study Skills
Study skills are the skills and aids that help students learn more efficiently and understand or comprehend the material they are reading, viewing, accessing, or listening to. Although we have already discussed many ways to assist students, the following are additional strategies students can apply while studying.
Adjusted Rate
There are several ways to adjust rate; increasing rate, decreasing rate, skimming and scanning.
Memory and Study aids
Strategies or skills that help students remember. Strategies discussed in the slide show are: SQ3R, three -column read/recall chart, outlining, text mark-ups, think-pair-write-share, mnemonics, and personal planning and organization.
Listening
This is the process of paying close or thoughtful attention to spoken language and constructing meaning or comprehending. The two process outlined in the slideshow are aesthetic listening and efferent listening.
